<\/a>Remo CAPONI<\/strong><\/p>\nRemo Caponi was born in Cortona (Italy) in 1960. He is full professor of Civil Procedure at the School of Law of the\u00a0University of Florence since 2001, after obtaining a Law Degree at the same university in 1984, a PhD in civil\u00a0procedure at the University of Bologna in 1989, and a Gro\u00dfes Deutsches Sprachdiplom at the Goethe Institut in 1992.\u00a0He is a Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at the Universities of Bielefeld, Freiburg and the Humboldt\u00a0University of Berlin (from 1994 onward, various research stays). He was a Fernand Braudel Fellow at the European\u00a0University Institute (2016), a Senior Hauser Global Research Fellow at the New York University (2014-2015), a\u00a0visiting professor at the University of Heidelberg (2014-2015), a fellow of the DAAD at the Humboldt University of\u00a0Berlin (2014). He taught Transnational Contracts and Litigation at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Siena\u00a0(1995-2009) and Civil Procedure at the Faculty of Law of the University of Siena (1995-2000). He was\u00a0wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter at the Faculty of Law of the University of Bielefeld (1989-1991), while teaching\u00a0Introduction to the Italian Law. He is member of the Steering Committee supervising the ELI UNIDROIT joint project\u00a0on European Rules of Civil Procedure (2014-ongoing). He is member of the International Scientific Advisory Board\u00a0(Fachbeirat) of the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for International, European and Regulatory Procedural Law\u00a0(2016-ongoing), the Executive Committee of the European Law Institute (2013-ongoing), the Council of the\u00a0International Association of Procedural Law (2011-ongoing), the Board of the Directors of the Italian Association of \u00a0Procedural Law (2011-ongoing). He is Member of the International Consortium (led by the MPI Luxembourg) charged\u00a0of the Evaluation Study of National Procedural Laws and Practices under EU Consumer Law for the EU Commission\u00a0(2015-ongoing). He is Member of the Expert Group (GEV) charged of the Evaluation of the Scientific Research in the\u00a0field of Legal Sciences in Italy, at the Italian Agency for the Evaluation of the University System and Research,\u00a0ANVUR (2015-ongoing). He is coordinator of the joint law degree Giurisprudenza italiana e tedesca, University of\u00a0Florence and University of Cologne (2015-ongoing). He has served as reporter for the European Commission and the\u00a0European Parliament in studying and evaluating aspects of the European law of civil procedure and insolvency (2010-\u00a02011, 2012). He was a member the Board of the Trustees of the Academy of European Law (2007-2015). He has\u00a0authored 4 books and about 200 papers in Italian, English and German. Some of his works have been translated in\u00a0Spanish, Portuguese and Hungarian. His main research interests are in the field of civil procedure, comparative civil\u00a0procedure, private law, constitutional law and international law. He speaks Italian (mother tongue), German, and\u00a0English. He also reads French, Spanish, and Portuguese.<\/p>\n
